About Balto Energy

Balto Energy is an AI-enabled home energy services company that turns physics-based models of individual homes, calibrated against real utility bills and meter data, into clear, financeable energy upgrade plans for homeowners and installers.

Balto Energy, Inc. is based in Cardiff by the Sea, California, in San Diego County. The company was founded by James Quazi, who sold his first home energy modeling startup to SolarCity and later co-founded Dandelion Energy out of X, and launched publicly on 18 June 2024. The team is six people across product, engineering, finance, and project delivery.

We combine home-level modeling, plain-language guidance, and trusted local execution so that solar, storage, and the rest of a home’s energy decisions work as one accountable system rather than a string of one-off transactions. The model is specific to each house — built from its actual bills, tariff, and equipment — so the plan it produces is sized for that home, not an average one.

The underlying method is Solar-Led Electrification (SLED): pair rooftop solar and battery storage with the electrification upgrades a home is ready for, then size and sequence them against what that home actually uses. Balto works in California, where NEM 3.0 cut the compensation for exporting solar to the grid and made on-site use the thing worth optimizing.

We work alongside high-quality local installers — including our operating company, Northern Pacific Power Systems — to give homeowners a clearer decision about what their home should do next, and a credible path to get there. The first pilot under that partnership opened in February 2025 across Sonoma, Napa, and Marin counties.
